Brihaspati is the lord of prayer and the priest of the gods, master of the sacred word. In the Vedic hymns his eloquence and counsel uphold the cosmic order, and later tradition makes him the guru of the devas and the deity of the planet Jupiter. He embodies wisdom, teaching, and benevolent guidance.
