The Pitris are the fathers, the ancestral dead who dwell in their own luminous realm and receive the offerings of their descendants. Vedic and later tradition alike hold that their blessing sustains the family line, honored in shraddha rites. They stand for lineage, inheritance, and the dignity that comes from those who came before.
