Vishnu

the pervader and preserver

TraditionVedic and later Hindu

The one who crossed the worlds in three strides, and holds them all in hearing.

Vishnu appears in the Rigveda as the god of the three great strides that measured out the cosmos, and in later Hindu tradition he is the preserver, one of the supreme deities, worshipped in forms including Rama and Krishna. He sustains the order of the worlds and hears those who call on him. His mansion is bound to listening, learning, and the carrying of the sacred word.
