Imbolc
The first stirring
Comes again February 1, 2027
The fire stirs before the world sees it. Brigid's flame, milk and seed.
The first stirring under the frost.
Imbolc marks the quickening of the year, when light returns in earnest and the ground begins to wake. It is a feast of Brigid in many traditions, tending hearth, craft, and the first signs of spring.
Common practices
- Lighting candles in every room at dusk
- Weaving Brigid crosses from rushes or straw
- Cleaning and blessing the hearth and home
- Planting the first seeds indoors
