Imbolc marks the quickening of the year, when light returns in earnest and the ground begins to wake. It is a feast of Brigid in many traditions, tending hearth, craft, and the first signs of spring.
Common practices
- Lighting candles in every room at dusk
- Weaving Brigid crosses from rushes or straw
- Cleaning and blessing the hearth and home
- Planting the first seeds indoors
- Milk, butter, and seed cakes at the table
