Purva Phalguni is ruled by Bhaga, god of good fortune and enjoyment, and it celebrates love, leisure, and creative pleasure. It is the mansion of rest after effort, of festivity, romance, and the arts of delight. Its shadow is indulgence; its gift is genuine warmth.

Some older Vedic listings swap the deities of the two Phalgunis, giving Aryaman here and Bhaga to Uttara Phalguni; the mainstream astrological attribution is Bhaga for Purva and Aryaman for Uttara.
