The Seventh House

The House of Marriage and the Other

Where the Sun goes down, another face rises to meet ours.

The seventh house is the Setting place, the western angle where planets sink from sight. It governs marriage and every formal partner, and equally the open adversary, for both stand directly opposite the self of the first house. Contracts, unions, and disputes are all read here.

When a planet stands here

Venus here inclines the life toward union and accord.

Mars here sharpens rivalry, and marriage may carry strife.

Saturn here can bind partnership late, firmly, or to an elder.

Dysis in Greek, the place of sinking. No planet has its joy here; the angle's power comes from its opposition to the Hour-Marker.

A house is personal. It exists only in a birth chart, cast from your own horizon at your own hour; the sky holds no seventh house until someone is born under it. The kinship with Libra is an analogy of order, not an identity.
