Gamma Pegasi, Al Janb

From the Arabic al-janb, the side or the wing. It stands at about 9° Aries (tropical).

Algenib is Gamma Pegasi, standing at the southeastern corner of the Great Square and named from the Arabic al-janb, the side or wing of the winged horse. It is a hot blue-white star that pulses faintly in brightness. Robson gives it the nature of Mars and Mercury and delineates it as bringing notoriety, misfortune, and a certain reckless force of mind and speech, though also honor won through daring. It is a named star, but not counted among the Behenian.

The name Algenib is shared in the old lists with Alpha Persei; here it is Gamma Pegasi, the wing. Not a Behenian star.
