Eta Geminorum, Propus, from the Greek for the forward foot, is the leading foot of the mortal twin in his stride; it was also named Tejat Prior beside Mu's Posterior. A reddish semiregular variable, it was already set at the foot by Ptolemy. Little independent planetary lore attaches to it apart from its place in the foot.

Its interest is chiefly its place in the figure, paired with Tejat at the twin's foot.
