Epsilon Pegasi, Al Anf, Fom al-Faras

From the Arabic al-anf, the nose, the muzzle of the horse. It stands at about 1° Pisces (tropical).

The nose of the winged horse, the brightest star of the figure.

Enif is Epsilon Pegasi, marking the nose or muzzle of the horse, and though it lies far from the Great Square it is the brightest star of the whole constellation. It is a great orange supergiant, deep in color and given to sudden flares of brightness. Robson gives it the nature of Mars and Mercury and reads it as bringing violent temperament and rashness held against good fortune and standing. It is a named star of the first importance in the figure, though not among the Behenian.
