Unnamed, known by its Bayer letter. It stands at about 19° Cancer (tropical).

A faint waypoint in the body of the Dog, between Sirius and the tail.

Iota runs among the lesser stars of Canis Major, a blue-white supergiant far off and so seen only faintly. It helps trace the Dog's back below Sirius. Little traditional lore attaches to this star.
