Haedus

Eta Aurigae, Hoedus II, one of the Haedi

One of the Haedi, the Kids or young goats. It stands at about 20° Gemini (tropical).

One of the Kids beside the goat, whose rising once warned sailors of storms.

Eta Aurigae is one of the Haedi, the Kids or young goats held beside the she-goat Capella. To the ancient mariners the rising of the Kids was a sign of storms at sea, remembered by Aratus and the Latin poets. Haedus is the more southerly of the pair, sometimes called Hoedus II.

Little traditional lore attaches to this star apart from the storm-omen of the Kids and its place in the figure.
