Deneb

Deneb Adige, Alpha Cygni

The tail of the hen, from the Arabic dhanab ad-dajajah. It stands at about 6° Pisces (tropical).

The swan's tail high in the river of stars, farther and brighter than it lets on.

Deneb crowns the Northern Cross at the swan's tail, one of the most distant stars the naked eye commonly sees, a white supergiant of enormous true brilliance. Robson, listing it as Deneb Adige, gives it the nature of Venus and Mercury and an ingenious character, a clever intellect quick at learning. It anchors the Summer Triangle with Vega and Altair over the thick of the Milky Way.

Not a Behenian star; the Behenian Deneb Algedi is a different star entirely, in Capricornus.
