Unnamed, known by its Bayer letter. It stands at about 16° Gemini (tropical).

The topmost star of the hide the Hunter holds against the Bull.

Pi1 Orionis stands at the upper end of the curved line of stars that form the lion's hide, or shield, Orion raises in his left hand toward Taurus. It is a faint white star, one of six Pi stars that draw the arc. Little traditional lore attaches to this star.
