Unnamed, known by its Bayer letter. It stands at about 16° Cancer (tropical).

A dim marker near the head of the Dog, above Sirius.

Theta is an orange giant lying toward the head of Canis Major, north of Sirius, seen at modest brightness. It serves only to fill out the figure of the Dog. Little traditional lore attaches to this star.
