Mu Scorpii

Xamidimura and Pipirima, the close pair

Unnamed in the old Western books; the paired modern names come from Khoikhoi and Tahitian star lore. It stands at about 17° Sagittarius (tropical).

Two lights so close they were seen as eyes, watching from the tail's curve.

Mu is really a close pair the sharp-eyed can just split, and older peoples did, the Khoikhoi of southern Africa called them the eyes of the lion, a name modern astronomy has adopted for the brighter of the two. It rides the curve of the tail among the root stars of Mula. No individual delineation exists in the Western handbooks, and little traditional Western lore attaches to it.
