Alpha Andromedae, Sirrah, Sirah, the Navel of the Horse

The navel of the horse, from the Arabic surrat al-faras. It stands at about 14° Aries (tropical).

The chained head of Andromeda, shared with Pegasus's square; a star of honour and independence.

Alpha Andromedae is the bright star at the princess's head and also the northeast corner of the Great Square of Pegasus, one star belonging to two figures. Robson gives it the nature of Jupiter and Venus, reading it for independence, freedom, and honour freely given.
