The riders, from the Arabic al-fawaris, an old shared name for the wing stars. It stands at about 17° Aquarius (tropical).

The western wing, already leaning toward its far-off turn as the pole star.

Delta holds the swan's western wing, and its adopted name Fawaris, the riders, once belonged to the wing stars together in Arabic sky lore. It has a distinction still ahead of it, the slow wheel of precession will bring the celestial pole to its neighborhood some nine thousand years from now.
