The Fixed Stars

Sadalnazi

Sa'd al-Nazi, Sadalnasi

From the Arabic sa'd, the fortunate, one of the lucky-star names of the horse. It stands at about 26° Pisces (tropical).

Another of the horse's 'sa'd' fortune-names, a lucky star among lucky stars.

Sadalnazi is one of the 'sa'd' fortune-names that the old Arab astronomers gave to the stars gathered in this reach of Pegasus, its opening element sa'd marking it as one of the fortunate or lucky company. Like Matar, Homam, Biham, and Sadalbari beside it, it belongs to a family of names built around good fortune rather than to any developed system of planetary characters. Its lore is chiefly the meaning of its name, and the tradition adds little else.

One of the Arabic 'sa'd' lucky-star names of Pegasus; carries a fortunate name-meaning with little formal planetary delineation.
