Saif al Jabbar, Eta Orionis, 28 Orionis

The sword of the giant. It stands at about 13° Gemini (tropical).

A named star hanging in the sword that falls from the Hunter's belt.

Saif al Jabbar takes its name from the Arabic for the sword of the giant, and marks a point in the line of the sword that hangs beneath Orion's belt. It is a hot blue star, its light the merged glow of a close multiple system. It carries a proper name for its place in the sword but is not delineated for planetary nature in Robson.

Named for the sword of the giant; its interest is its place in the sword line, with no strong traditional delineation.
